For this Malaysian Chinese bride and her New Zealand groom, their wedding day was more than just a celebration — it was a chance to experience the beautiful traditions of a Chinese wedding in Penang from beginning to end.
The day started with the lively gate-crashing games, as the groom and his friends took on the bridesmaids before finally getting to the bride. There was laughter, chaos, plenty of shouting and all the fun that makes a traditional Chinese wedding so memorable.
Then came the quieter moments — the tea ceremony, where both families gathered to honour their parents and share in the significance of the day. Later, the energy returned with the Yam Seng, cheers, laughter and a wonderfully chaotic wedding reception filled with family and friends.
But perhaps the most emotional moment came just before dinner.
